This summer we're excited to add Inferno Hot Pilates to our schedule. Hot Pilates is a challenging full-body workout consisting of both high intensity interval training and the Joseph Pilates principals. Performed in a 95 degree room with 40 percent humidity. This practice creates a stronger core, joint mobility, and develops long lean muscle mass. A perfect compliment to the Pure Bikram method of Hatha yoga.
All of our instructors have been trained by Bikram Choudhury (Creator of Bikram Yoga Method) and received their certification through the Bikram Yoga College of India. Spring 2016, we are thrilled to begin a new chapter of training with a 500 hour certification course developed by Craig Villani (director and senior teacher of Bikram Yoga Training for over a decade) May 2016, BYL Director, Kristin Olsen will serve on the faculty of the Raja Yoga Academy in Australia for the launch of this new paradigm in hot yoga teacher training. Craig Villani has developed this 500 hour certification course dedicated to the therapeutic Core 26 and the Bishnu Ghosh lineage of practice. BYL shares this mission and fresh perspective on the time-honored benefits of the yoga.
"Bishnu Charan Ghosh, one of the greatest and most influential yoga masters of the past century, guru of Bikram Choudhury. Ghosh, born in Lahore, India in 1903, was a celebrated physical culturist and the first to scientifically document Yoga’s ability to cure chronic physical ailments and heal the body. Beginning in the 1920’s, he developed a school of Yoga that provides a unique blend of spiritual inspiration and a highly disciplined physical regimen."
Bikram trained with Bishnu Ghosh exclusively and with Ghosh's blessing brought his Beginnng Series to the United Sates. This 90 minute practice enhances range of motion, flexibility, cardio endurance, fat burning, sculpting, balance and stress relief. As a Pure Bikram method studio, we strive to share with the public the exact 90 minute hot yoga practice that changed our lives. The Bikram series was designed for beginners. You can trust that you are getting a full 90 minute class with all 26 postures and savasanas in their correct order for the optimal therapeutic effect, challenge, and steady conditioning. Our focus, our forte, is the 90 minute Bikram method of traditional Hatha yoga.
